The Technological University of Bolívar (UTB) was founded on August 5, 1970, as an institution with a business vocation, starting professional training in economics, Electrical, Mechanical and Industrial Engineering; It was the first institution of higher education in Cartagena de Indias. The UTB continues on the path of excellence since the Ministry of National Education has granted the renewal of High-Quality Accreditation, offering in its programs, profiles that contribute to the economic and social development of the country and the Caribbean Region, providing careers to a technical, technological and professional level. The UTB integrated within its objectives the accompaniment of entrepreneurship in 1999, becoming one of the first universities in the country with mandatory emphasis in all its programs encouraging entrepreneurship, The UTB has a specific place for Entrepreneurship and Innovation activities known as the El Patio Creativity and Innovation Laboratory, in order to support and strengthen the creative and innovative capacities of entrepreneurs, the first university laboratory that provides didactic methodologies is born, spaces that facilitate the acceleration and initiation of ideation processes, thus generating exceptional added value to different companies in the market. El Patio is currently the main tool for the development of capacities and innovation skills for the Colombian Caribbean Region. This space is equipped with human personnel trained to facilitate innovation within the UTB and the companies in the region. The “El Patio” laboratory is aimed at the entire UTB community that has a business idea or formalized undertakings, involving local, public and private actors in social entrepreneurship projects. Looking for results, experiences and best practices in supporting social entrepreneurs, national and international alliances formed consolidated networks in entrepreneurship and innovation, strong financial relationships, greater visibility of “El Patio”, at an institutional, national and international level, having a psychosocial program and be part of vulnerable entrepreneurs in the Region.
