HubOut was born as a research laboratory engaged in the design, management and communication of cultural projects with the intention of involving communities, cities and territories. Since 2012 HubOut has been operating in Cinisello Balsamo focusing on issues such as: the public sharing of knowledge, civic action, collective choices and the active participation of citizens in processes concerning the territory.

In 2016 “MakersLab” was created as the first digital manufacturing laboratory in Lombardy which opened in a public library and was the second in Italy after the one opened in Pistoia. In 2018 “SpazioCofò” was inaugurated as the first public coworking space in the province of Milan.

Designers, change makers, cultural operators, youth workers and social planners with different training and skills form the HubOut team which was initially located is the heart of Cinisello Balsamo (MI). Now HubOut  is a Platform for Social Innovation and has numerous operational offices in the city of Cinisello Balsamo and beyond.

In 2020 HubOut became a national good practice in Matera, thanks to funding from the National Youth Department for projects aimed at twinning cities. HubOut is now located also in the center of Matera with its own coworking space. In accordance with the platform’s guidelines, the governance of HubOut Matera is entrusted to the Municipality of Matera.
