Biplano Cooperative was born in 1999 when the mental hospitals were closed. The psychiatric mental health patients were taken  to “Casa de Bosco”, a community in Longuelo, at the foot of the hills where they dedicated themselves to various daily jobs including working the land. Today, the community is based in Urgnano in the Cascina Battaina.  

Over the years the agriculture, with the inclusion of disadvantaged people, has grown and became organic. The cooperation expansion led to the management of: Light Residency and a Housing service for those users who are part of the psychiatric world and who aim at housing and economic independence; the “Isola del Tesoro” Day Center, craft workshops where users, through creative recycling, enrich their rehabilitation path and gain work experience.
