Community Foundations was born in January 1914 when, the dream of an American banker from Ohio, Frederick Harris Goff came true by concretely helping the community in which he lived and worked. The movement quickly spread worldwide including Italy.

Fondazione della Comunità Salernitana was constituted in 2009 and is the first Community foundation to be born in central-southern Italy. It is an autonomous and independent organization, comes under civil law and belongs to all the people of Salerno. Just like all the other foundations, the mission of the Salernitana one is to promote a true culture of donating that makes everyone feel involved in the social, cultural and ethical development of the territory, to strengthen the bonds of solidarity and social responsibility, improve the quality of life of the local community and guarantee a better future for the new generations.
