The non-profit organization Horizon Ethical Projects "HEP" was created by combining the strengths of volunteers. These are the active members of the non-profit organisation Horizon together with those involved in the knowledge centre Engineers Without Borders of the former non-profit organisation the Chamber of Flanders Engineers (VIK). The use of the individual expertise of these persons with their specific field experience in the South provides the trump card for the organisation of HEP activities in less-developed countries. This is done by taking maximum account of the local economic, ecological, and social factors that influence the organisation of those activities.
