Sofia Bread House

The Bread Houses Network was founded by Dr. Nadezhda Savova-Grigorova, a cultural anthropologist at Princeton University in the United States. While pursuing her PhD, she has traveled to more than 75 countries, exploring different cultural and bread traditions, for which she was honored by the National Geographic World Edition of 2012’s Mission Traveler of the Year. In 2009, in place of the old craft shop of Nadezhda’s great-grandmother in Gabrovo, the first Bread House was experimented with and created, which aroused the enthusiasm of a group of volunteers and quickly became one of the newest and most innovative community centers in Bulgaria, “St. St. Damascene and Onufriy Gabrovsky-2011 ”.

The Bread House proved to be a unique and successful model of a socio-cultural center, and became one of the programs of the non-governmental organization for public benefit, the International Council of Amateur Centers, M3C ( www.international3c.org ), created by Nadezhda and supporters in 2008 The vision of M3C is to develop a network of community centers and their similar cultural associations of community cultural centers around the world, currently connecting more than 50 countries on 6 continents.
