Villaggio Globale

The voluntary association Villaggio Globale was born in November 1999 as a development of a project of the local diocesan Caritas which regarded the formation, education and spreading of the culture of peace, non-violence, integration, welcome and constructive criticism of economic and financial systems. In 2005 the association became a type A social cooperative.

Today there are approximately 260 members, 11 of whom are workers, 30 are volunteers and the rest are users. Activities are both at local and global level and aim at supporting change towards a more equitable, inclusive and sustainable society. At a global level this is done through Fair Trade and social economy by establishing commercial relationships with small local producers or disadvantaged groups in the Southern part of the world. At a local level there are various projects to achieve this goal: social mediation, participation, urban regeneration and social sustainability, education and integration and creative recycling.
